“The friendliest dance community I've found in Orlando. They make West Coast Swing easy to fall in love with.”
Love of dance, social atmosphere
West Orlando Westies (WOW) fills a genuine gap in the Orlando dance scene as a dedicated West Coast Swing community — a smooth, elastic, highly social partner dance that few general studios teach. Its mission is to 'share our love of dance with people of all ages and backgrounds in an exciting and social atmosphere,' and its perfect 5.0 rating reflects how warmly newcomers are received. Classes run every Tuesday at Wepa Dance Studio and are cleanly tiered — Intro to WCS (Level 1), Beginner (Level 2), and Intermediate (Level 3), plus a Technique Lab — followed by a two-hour social dance so students can immediately apply what they learned.
The group is built to be approachable and affordable: new students receive free social dancing after attending the Level 1 introductory class, with flexible pricing from $10 to $20 for various class combinations. Beyond weekly sessions, WOW hosts signature events like the 'Orlando Westie Prom' — a weekend of workshops and formal dancing — along with fifth-Tuesday themed nights, and it connects dancers into the broader Orlando West Coast Swing community. For anyone seeking a social, partner-based alternative to studio ballroom or Latin, it's the area's go-to.
