Teaching through experience
Theatre South Playhouse sits in The Marketplace at Dr. Phillips and blends a working playhouse with a full musical-theatre academy. Its dance offerings include tap, ballet, and Broadway-style classes taught alongside acting and musical-theatre coursework, so students train in the movement side of musical theater rather than acting alone. Programs run from young actors age seven through teens and adults, organized under the Theatre South Academy and the Showstoppers program, with private lessons available for focused work.
The playhouse stages professional mainstage productions that give students real performance opportunities, and it fills out the calendar with summer camps, classes, and workshops for all ages. Audition opportunities, an internship program, and scholarships extend the experience for committed performers. Guided by a Teaching Through Experience philosophy, Theatre South has built a strong local reputation and a near-perfect rating, making it a convenient, credible choice for musical-theater dance in the Dr. Phillips and southwest Orlando area.
